Network Communication

Definition of Network

- Network is a group of two or more computer systems linked together.

Types of Network

a) Local-area networks (LANs) : The computers are geographically close together ( that is in the same building).
b) Metropolitan-area networks (MANs) : A data network designed for a town or city.
c) Wide-area networks (WANs) : The computers are farther apart and are connected by telephone lines or radio waves.

Definition of Network Topology

-  The geometric arrangement of a computer system.

Types of network Topology

a) Bus Topology
- Bus Topoogy is a network topology in which in which a sets of clients are connected via a shared communications line/cables, called a bus.     
 
 
 

b) Star Topology
- A star network consists of one central switch, hub or computer, which act as a conduit to transmit messages.
 
 
 
c) Ring Topology
- A ring network is a network topology in which each node connects to exactly two others nodes, forming a single continuous pathways for signals through each node- a ring.
